Decoding the Florida Man Cast: Behind the Headlines
A disgraced cop in debt is forced to return to his home state of Florida for a shady mission, only to get swept up in a wild—and deadly—treasure hunt. From ex-cops to mobsters, meet the motley crew of characters who’d rock any Florida mug shot.
Here’s your guide to the full characters in “Florida Man Cast,” the new comedy crime series on Netflix that promises to go “beyond the meme.”
Created by Donald Todd, who was born and raised in The Sunshine State himself, “Florida Man” borrows the name from the infamous and ongoing viral phenomenon involving the influx of absurd news stories about men in the state doing outrageous things—often involving alligators, weapons, fast food, or all of the above.
But the seven-part Netflix series is much more than that, diving into “a web of lies, murder, deception, family trauma, and a search for long-lost gold,” all of which come together to show that “even if you take the Florida Man out of the state (and throw him back in again), he’s still a Florida Man at heart.”
As per the official synopsis: “When a struggling ex-cop (Mike) is forced to return to his home state of Florida to find a Philly mobster’s (Moss) runaway girlfriend (Delly), what should be a quick gig becomes a wildly spiraling journey into buried family secrets, and an increasingly futile attempt to do the right thing in a place where so much is wrong.”
Perhaps you have come across the now-iconic Florida Man meme and skimmed those kooky, unbelievable headlines. Now, brace yourself as Mike Valentine (Edgar Ramírez), a recovering gambling addict, agrees to return to his home state to track down Delly (Abbey Lee), the runaway girlfriend of mob boss Moss (Emory Cohen).
From Jason Bateman’s production company Aggregate Films and “This Is Us” showrunner Donald Todd—who was born and raised in Florida—the seven-part limited series dives into a web of lies, murder, deception, family trauma, and a search for long-lost gold, showing that even if you take the Florida Man out of the state (and throw him back in again), he’s still a Florida Man at heart.

On television, Ramírez has lent his acting chops to the series Dr. Death, The Undoing, and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
Sonny Valentine
ANTHONY LAPAGLIA
The widower and retired police chief is still committing unlawful transactions under the radar, so it’s no wonder why Mike doesn’t trust him, even though especially because he’s his dad. When Sonny isn’t concocting scams, he spends his days working at a boat dock restaurant.
LaPaglia might be best known for his Golden Globe–winning role in the drama Without a Trace or his Emmy–winning role as Simon Moon on Frasier, but you might also recognize him from the films Nitram, Annabelle: Creation, The Assignment, or Empire Records.

Patsy
OTMARA MARRERO
Although she keeps it together on the outside, Mike’s sister Patsy juggles criminal family members, a husband who talks too much, and a daughter with an attitude. She’s not pulling the strings like her brother or dad, but her hands aren’t completely clean either.
Marrero’s film credits include Jackass Forever and Clementine. She made her TV debut in Graceland, and more recently, she’s been in series such as Connecting… and StartUp.
Iris
LEX SCOTT DAVIS
Even when she isn’t doing her actual job as a detective, Iris is trying to figure out what her ex Mike is getting himself into. When her boss discovers a potential conflict of interest in a case involving Mike, Iris is pulled from the project. Even so, Iris is still determined to get to the bottom.
Davis might be best known for starring in the film Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart. She’s also had recurring roles in the TV series Rebel, The L Word: Generation Q, and Training Day.
Moss Yankov
EMORY COHEN
Moss is the son of a late mob boss. Upon his father’s death, he inherits the family business. Although he’s insecure about not having earned his position, Moss isn’t afraid to have his men break a few legs or, murder people… or send them to Florida on wild chases.
Cohen played Homer in the Netflix series The OA. He has appeared in the movies Big Gold Brick, Lords of Chaos, Brooklyn, and Place Beyond the Pines.
Sheriff Ketcher
CLARK GREGG
While on vacation in Florida with his family, Sheriff Ketcher panics when his gun goes missing, which sets off a series of misadventures that lead to prison, the laundromat, a gas station, and other Florida hotspots.
Gregg is best known for playing Phil Coulson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His film résumé also includes Being the Ricardos. He’s been a part of the animated TV series Ultimate Spider-Man, and he’s had recurring roles in The West Wing and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Johnson has acted in the series David Makes Man, All Rise, and Nancy Drew. He portrayed George Washington on the national tour of Hamilton.

Kaitlin Fox
LAUREN BUGLIOLI
As ambitious local news anchor Lauren Buglioli, Kaitlin Fox is desperate to crack a case and break an exclusive to further her career — and move to a bigger city. When she can’t get in touch with Mike (who tipped her off), she takes things into her own hands, even though her story assumptions aren’t 100 percent accurate.
Buglioli has appeared in series including First Wives Club, FBI, and Queens.
